My name is Daniel Rayneau-Kirkhope. I used to be a research physicist, and I spent my days researching ways to make light, efficient structures. My evenings were spent either riding bikes or thinking about bikes.
In 2018, I left academia to follow my passion of making bicycles. Since then, I have dedicated myself to making beautiful bikes, and I have also developed what I believe to be the perfect cargo bike, optimizing every last detail. I love cycle touring, cargo bikes, and gravel bikes. And these are the bikes that I specialize in making.
The bikes I make are made for everyday life. I make beautiful, functional bikes. I believe having a comfortable, reliable bike that is made specially for you is essential to getting you out on your bike.
The majority of the bikes I make are made to measure. Every rider is unique in stature, and each bike has a different purpose. It makes sense then that each bike is made individually to ensure it fits its rider perfectly and its geometry matches its specific use.
I believe that (cargo) bicycles are the answer to most questions. Bikes as a mode of transport are inherently green. Cycling keeps you active and cuts pollution. Cycling keeps you sane. There isn’t much else to say.
Each bike is hand made by me, Daniel Rayneau-Kirkhope. Working out of a small workshop in northern Italy, I will attend to every detail that makes your bike special. You will ride your bike knowing exactly where it was made and who put it together.
I am a custom-bike maker. Each bike I make is unique. There are, however, certain things that I have found to work, and some of these things have been distilled into what I refer to as "starting points". Below are some of these starting points, but as the name suggests, they are only the start. Together, we will adapt and modify the design to make it suit you perfectly. These designs are also available as framesets for you to build into your perfect bike.
